A local Mapping Event is a great and very efficient way to support Wheelmap.org. Groups of enthusiasts go mapping together and systematically mark places on the map.
Change your city for the better with a Mapping Event
Mapping together is not only great fun, it’s also let’s you cover so far unmarked areas of your city faster. Plus, you can verify the correctness of existing marks along the way.
Moreover, you can sensitize shop owners for the topics wheelchair-accessibility and inclusion. You can order information material such as flyers and stickers from us in advance and hand them out during the Mapping Event. If you spread the word about your Mapping Event early enough you can create some buzz and also attract more interested people to join you.
Here’s how it works
- Rally friends and fellow mappers and set a date
- Spread the word via social networks, newsletters, bulletin boards etc.
- Pick an area and maybe even think about routes
- Get your iPhone or Android app ready
- Optional: inform your local newspaper, radio or TV station
- And off you go!
We’d like to tell others about your experience – so send us some pictures and a few words that describe your Mapping Event to info [at] wheelmap.org and we’ll post it on our Blog.
