At this year’s Social Day of Immobilienscout 24, the Scouties hit the road in Berlin in order to tag and add locations, and to upload pictures of entrances on Wheelmap. As a little treat, the groups had to accomplish some extra challenges here and there.
At the end of June, on the Immobilienscout 24 Social Day, 26 employees came together in order to go on a mission for the Wheelmap in Germany’s capital city.
The ties between the best-known German real estate online platform and the Sozialhelden are quite strong ever since Immobilienscout 24 has been letting them an appropriate office room within the company facility in Berlin since 2011. That’s also why by now, the mapping initiative has virtually become a tradition on the corporate day of commitment.
Equipped with Wheelmap profiles, smartphones with Android– and iPhone-App, folding meter stick, instruction papers and information leaflets, groups of two to four people hit the road after a short introduction.
Four extra challenges for the mappers
As an entertaining distraction during their mapping tours, the groups had to perform four extra challenges which were sent to them via text messages onto their cell phones. Back in the Sozialhelden office, the Wheelmap crew was awaiting their answers.
These arrived in the shape of photos showing the group together with a wheelchair user, or a barrier they had encountered on their walk through the streets, to name just two of them.
Thus, not only social, funny, and often ludicrous souvenirs of the Social Day came into being but also various impressions of the situations which the Scouties had experienced on their mapping tour. By early evening at the final meeting, the most creative contributions of the challenge were rewarded with a cinema voucher.
The mapping results of the Social Day 2014
In the end, all participants of the mapping can be considered winners of the day regarding the great results for the Wheelmap: 450 tagged locations, 150 newly added locations, 150 uploaded pictures. And as a side effect, many store owners as well as passersby were informed about Wheelmap.org and the mobile ramps.
We are very happy about the engagement of the Scouties and look forward to the next Social Day. We’ll definitely come up with something special again for our ImmoScout volunteers to-be of 2015.
